Staff Speicalist, Paediatrician and Paediatric Intensive Care Physician
Gary completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Sydney then undertook specialist paediatric training in Sydney, London, Cambridge and Nigeria. He obtained FRACP in 1991 then completed a Fellowship in Paediatric Critical Care at Children’s Medical Centre Dallas USA and returned to Australia to take up a post as Staff Specialist in Children’s Intensive Care at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick in 1995, a post which he still holds. In addition to clinical work in the ICU, his other hospital responsibilities have included supervising care of long-term home-ventilated paediatric patients. He became Fellow College of Intensive Care Medicine in 2008. Gary has been an APLS instructor since 1997 and the SCH, R medical representative on the ANZICS Paediatric Study Group since 2008. His particular interests include muscle physiology and sepsis /inflammation as well as medical student education. Interests outside medicine are swimming, reading and spending time with his family.
